Having a weird issue with my setup as follows

e6300
p5n-e sli
2gig crucial 5300
7800gt
corsair 520 psu
+ 2 hd and 2 dvd burners

(this setup is orthos stable on small and blend for 12 hours each and 3dmark stable for 8 hours or so) also downclocked from 3.4 to 3 , more volts for cpu ram board etc.

Problem as follows -

If I play an avi or dvd eventually the system will lock up (seems to lockup quicker with ffdshow)

Things ive tried changing -

Graphics card, CPU, ram

a friend of mine has the same board , so tried his hd with his windows install on mine (ide) , mine is sata , ruling out a sata problem , still locks up.

This video locking issue only happens when overclocked, suggesting it’s a motherboard issue even though its orthos stable small and blend.

Before i order another motherboard does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply
i origionaly thought it was a compatability problem with ther board and ffdshow , but my friends pc with the same motherboard and overclocked has non of this.

If I just use the xvid decoder it will be fine for days but it will still randomly freeze.

Hi
I’m using ac3filter 1.45 ( have actually tested with no sound card in and onboard audio off with ac3 filter not installed)
I don’t have vobsub installed
After you confirmed you had ffdshow issues with yours I am now testing the divx6.6 codec , letting it decode all mp4 , see what happens with this.

Having thought about it, the only real difference to my mates rig is that he is using an ati card

many thanks for the reply
