I worked yesterday 9-5 as normal and the got stuck on an emergency job through night

What is supposed to happen is that someone takes over at 9am and you take the day off ( paid ) to rest

The person taking over didn't arrive until 10.50 and I got home at 12:40 after handover and travel

now Thurs 9-5 would have been my working day but I also should have been on paid rest time from 9

so do I claim overtime up to 9am or 12:40 ?

before anyone says it I am not going to ask officially as I know what the answer will be :p

I'd claim it and see if it gets approved, wrse they can do is say no. Never ask before sticking the paperwork in as at least half the time a manager will sign it off without even reading it!

I would have thought you could claim overtime between 9am (when you were supposed to be relieved) and 10.50am (when you were actually relieved)

it almost certainly will go through but I don't want to do something that I am not sure, in my own mind, is right

Overtime til 12:40 and paid leave that's how we do it, but depends on your contract and more importantly good will of your manager.

Well I think your right as you say you would normally get paid for travel and you were working longer than you were supposed to, don't know what your rate is but if the sum of money is worth having I'd claim.

I'd definately claim up till 10:50 at least as you were still working when you should have been off resting, if it was half an hour over then fair enough but nearly 2 hours is a bit different

The last time I did something along those lines I just claimed for the hours I was not meant to be in work. So I would claim for the 5pm to 9am stint. However I would also have a bit of a lie in the following day and turn in when I could be bothered to get out of bed. :)

both  that's impressive

I am already getting paid for 9-5 anyway so not sure how to work it

They Couldn't work with out us being ultra flexiable pretty much every week, so it's a bit of give and take. Things like that situlation happen so rarely as well.

Oh yeah but I am home start so paid till I get home anyway.

Id claim overtime up until 12:40.

I can only guess you are only gifted that day off as a good will gesture by your company? If this is the case I would take the 3 hour hit on the chin!

You might find that they will pay you for it anyway so take the extra cash!

if it happens all the time, I would claim for it, if its a rare occurence I probably wouldnt bother, but make sure they know you worked it

looks like most think I should claim, overtime in not unusual in my job, far from it

in terms of pay hours (from overtime and standby ) I have already passed 150hrs this month

Usually to have it classed as higher rate overtime would require you'd worked a certain number of hours not just extra hours but as you've worked 150 odd hours I'm guess you'd apply for overtime rates anyhow lol.

Unless your paid for travelling claim upto 10.50.
