Hi i built my pc a few months ago and since then a 'not very strange, but wonder if i can fix it' problem (?) has occurred. I turn it on, it makes a bit of fan noise then turns off. Then it turns on normally. The first time it turns on it sounds as if the fans are running really fast because its quite loud. then when it starts properly its quieter

any ideas why this happens and if i can stop it from happening?

do you have any extra system fans attatched?

I had the same problem on a recent build, enabled something in the bios to control the extra system fans and now no problem

Search for dual boot or double boot problems. It is common on a lot of P35 boards.

It happens with my Asus P35 (See sig.)

I press the power button, everything turns on for a few secs, then turns off, then turns on again and boots normally. While its doing this, it sounds loud because it runs my GT cooler at 100% until windows starts to boot

Its a test/diagnostic feature I believe. (Don`t quote me though:D)

As a side note, this only happens if the power to the PC has been disconnected. I.e. unplugged or switch off at wall. If the PC is always powered, it just boots normally.

Aparently, it can be fixed with a bios update on some boards. As my system is otherwise running fine, I have not bothered looking for a fix, as i don`t find it to be an issue.

I have the Antec 900 with an Asus P5K Premium.

I have the same problem, and as above it only happens when power is interuppted or cut off completly (i.e. not just powering down, but switching it off etc.)

Also happens when i change BIOS settings and reboot, presumably diags or something
