Odd performance issue with ethernet instead of wifi.

Hi,
I've got a strange CPU/performance issue when transferring data. I'm hoping someones got some ideas, as I'm baffled!

I've tried 3 ways of connecting my PC to my router:
1 - Onboard ethernet adapter, into powerline plug, out of powerline plug in different room, into broadband router.
2 - PCIE ethernet card, into powerline plug, out of powerline plug in different room, into broadband router.
3 - Wireless N PCI card, connected to broadband router.

All 3 work fine under normal desktop use. I'm basically trying to get greater speeds, so want to switch to powerline, to assist with streaming of 1080 video to my mede8er box.

As soon as I fire up a Filezilla download, or start streaming video to my media player, options 1 and 2 result in abysmal mouse and keyboard performance - missing letters, mouse hardly moves, really unresponsive.
Option 3 works fine, no performance issues.

Here are some stats from Process Explorer:

You can see the powerline method results in higher I/O rates, which is great.
For information, just prior to the black block I limited the Filezilla transfer rate to 500KiB/s, but even then the keyboard/mouse was slightly laggy. The more you up the transfer rate, the worse it gets.

The wireless speeds are still OK, but have zero issues. Even if I limit Filezilla to the wireless speeds, keyboard/mouse is rubbish when using 1 or 2.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why options 1 and 2 would end up with rubbish mouse/keyboard performance? Is this anything to do with dropped packets over the Powerline?

HELP! :)

What does your storage setup look like?

IE - Disks, controllers etc

NIC options are probably inconsequential seeing as you have tried on-board and a dedicated NIC.

Er....just two internal SATA disks. A 2TB 5400rpm which is where the file download was going to. Motherboard is from 2007, so fairly old stuff, but does the job :)

I don't think it can be related to the storage bottleneck though - if you look to the left of the black block, you can see two periods of where I limited Filezilla speeds. They were about 20% of the I/O rates I was getting when using the WiFi.

Oh...this isn't going to be something as stupid as the Powerline interfering with the wireless keyboard/mouse is it? :o
By interfering, I mean radio waves or something.

Bum.....who has wired ones nowadays! :D
I'll bring my wired mouse home from work tomorrow. In the mean time, I'll try routing the keyboard/mouse receiver in a different direction. I'll be bloody annoyed if it is radio interference -what could I do about that?

OH MY GOD.
I can't believe it.
Layed the keyboard/mouse wireless receiver cable in the opposite direction to the Powerline adapter - problems have gone away.
Even stranger - moved it back to where it was, and problems are still gone.
This has been bugging me for days, and now problem is solved, but I don't know why.
