Bit of a weird problem I've never encountered before, when I'm hiding and showing layers the background around the actual image goes to the checkerboard pattern that shows transparency, its really random.

I've noticed it will do it with hiding and showing grid or guides too, did that just a few minutes ago. I went to turn off grid and it hid the guides as well and made the entire background the checkerboard pattern even though guides were still on. Went into the menu and turned them off and on again and they came back as you'd expect.

It's really starting to annoy! I've googled about and not seen anything, anyone else experience this before?

This is what happens, problem area marked with red:

And normally:

Maybe I'm missing something but I've never had this happen before!

Something to do with GPU acceleration, perhaps?

Untick Edit > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor and see if that fixes it.

If it does, make sure you've got the latest drivers for your graphics card.

That seems to have fixed it, will continue with it off for a bit just to check though.

No updates available but I'm on a laptop and they rarely get updates for graphics (Sony Vaio). Will check the support section for my model.

Thanks.
