Odd POST Problem

Current PC around 2 years old, custom built by a "specialist" company, not OCUK. (Spec as per sig - PSU is a Corsair 450w unit).Has generally been okay but had some odd behavior yesterday evening. First of all it suddenly shut down while playing on FO4 and promptly rebooted, only to shut down again almost straight away. Manually shut down and switched off the PSU to allow a proper rest, then on trying to POST all I got was the initial HD "whirr" for about two seconds, no POST it would pause for a few seconds then try again with the same result.

Opened the case, there is obviously power as with the PSU rocker switch on there is a green light on the MB. Blew out any dust (not much) the only significant amount a build up of fluff on the PSU air intake, which Coolermaster helpfully put on the bottom of the case on this model. Unplugged and replugged the motherboard electrical connections and checked graphics card secure. STook off the case front and the little wires attached to the power switch okay. till no POST.

Off with the other side of the case and things are a bit cramped where the connections feed into the disc drives. All connections (power and SATA) checked and leads tidied so as not to be constricted so much by the case. Result - a successful POST. It has POSTed successfully since albeit once this morning to a black screen which was overcome by hitting the reset button.

So what am I looking at here...
Is the PSU dying - I don't want to change it un-necessarily?
Is the primary HD dying - I ran CHKDSK this morning which didn't indicate any issues?
Is the mobo dying - if so that's pretty much new PC time?
Or was it just maybe a bit of adverse pressure on the Molex lead to the primary HD which caused a loss of power?

Any advice appreciated, please.

Maybe a marginal connection to the drive caused by pressure from wiring which suddenly 'failed'. After you jiggled about and remade the connections it was alright.

Difficult to diagnose really.
