Hi all
I've recently 'upgraded' my home network to roughly what can be seen below:
networkdiagram.jpg

This has been working fine for Internet access and file transfer with other computers attached to the router/switch/wireless but I've run into difficulties when printing. Essentially I can't print using the Maxtor Shared Storage's print server when access is through the powerline. Let me expain:

If i plug a computer into the switch and try and print to EITHER printer it is fine.

If i bypass the powerline using a long ethernet cable (can't be a permanent solution) then printing works fine.

If I plug a laptop into the switch and share the printer via the laptop instead of the maxtor shared storage then there is no problem .

When a computer is attached to the router (wired or wirelessly), it can see printer 2, to add it and even print a test page. But when you try and select the printer in word or another program it just freezes and says 'the printer isn't responding'. It may detect it eventually after several minutes (it did once anyway) but this really isn't acceptable anyway.

This one has got me stumped so far so has anyone got any ideas?

Just to let you know the router is a netgear DG834T, the powerline adapters are all netgear HD101X and the switch is a netgear platinum switch. The computers are all windows xp/vista and the printers are a Canon Pixima IP3000 and a HP deskjet 960C (same effect is seen with both printers)

Thanks everyone
