The answer, more than likely, is yes but any thoughts / help would be appreciated.
I have been messing about with upping the overclock on my Q6600 and no probs at all getting 3.6 stock volts etc.
I was testing by using 3DM06 and noticed as soon as the first test started I was only getting around 34 - 36 FPS as opposed to 80 odd I usually get.
Lo and behold my full score was a pitiful 4990 (as opposed to around 14K I was expecting).
Subsequently I checked (In Everest and RivaTuner) and my clocks on the GFX were fine.
I jumped into COD 4 (which I have synched and locked at 60 FPS) and to mu surprise 35 FPS !!
Same in ET:QW - I took of the OC and went back to stock 2.4 GHz and all was fine - Ive upped it to 3 GHz and all is fine.
Went back to 3.6 GHz - same halving of FPS in 3DM06 and in game !!
I haven't tried the incremental increases to see at what point this occurs, but have dropped back to 3 and all is fine :S
Is there any reason (and im really sorry if im being a complete tard here) as to why the CPU speed would affect my in game FPS ??
As a slight aside, I used to have a B3 Q6600 and going to 3.6 GHz didn't affect the FPS :S
Any help and / or thoughts would be greatly appreciated
