Odd problem; BF1942

Having rather a lot of trouble with BF1942 lately. It seems that after I play it and quit to windows, BF1942 won't load again until I restart the computer. I literally can only play once per restart. I have tried various graphics drivers and even reinstalled windows today to see if it would fix the problem; it hasn't.

It is patched to 1.61b.

Any ideas?

Small update; nothing is in the task manager related to BF1942 after it quits, and I have found out that un-patched, the game works flawlessly. As soon as I patch it the problems start...
