Odd problem conerning installing driver for mouse - help please

On my previous Windows, I had no problem installing the driver for my Cougar 500M mouse on Windows 10 pro, but with this fresh install the driver will not update. I went the normal route through Device Manager to install it, so is there another way I am unaware of? The mouse works with the Windows driver, but... not as it should.
