Odd problem with GTA5

So I've done a fresh install of Windows 10 10162 and installed GTA5. I forgot to backup my single player save so started again at the Snowy bit. It runs amazingly well, no stuttering, max settings pretty much etc.

However, once I finish this into sequence and get to the part where you steal the car with Franklin, the performance dives to unplayable :(
It's like the textures are struggling to load in and causing the FPS to plummet to single figures.

I'm running an SSD and performance was fine on the same Windows build using old drivers. Any ideas what could be causing it?

Is the card in your spec accurate still? If so AMD haven't really done much driver work in windows 10 yet, Nvidia on the other hand have had at least 2 sets of WHQL win 10 specific drivers.

That could be something to do with it.

Which drivers are you using?

Amd haven't done work on Windows 10? You been hiding under a rock?

All these leaked drivers giving amd performance boost in draw calls and frame rate on games are drivers from windows 10..

Op, what settings are you using?

"much work"

Also leaked drivers aren't official drivers are they.

Sorry not what I ment windows 10 drivers are from windows updater, official drivers for Windows 10.. But these are also leaked and modded to work on Windows 8.1...

FYI, amd performance is very good at windows 10, so good infact people are going out there way to install these drivers.... Youtube some games windows 10 vs 8.1 amd...

Before you give people false information.

Wasn't project cars better because of Windows 10? I remember a video where it used the exact same driver and ran much better on Windows 10.

Also running better on modded windows 10 driver for Windows 8.1 vs latest windows 8.1 driver..

Amd have improved there draw calls a lot lately so quite a lot of games been getting nice performance boost..

Am getting all my information from guru3D threads btw, I don't run the modded drivers.

I recently had a driver related bug with GTA V, I don't run Windows 10 though so who knows if this bug carries over. It doesn't cause low frame rates, but it does cause a stutter like it's streaming stuff from disk which gets worse and worse as it floods your VRAM.

Check out my link, you'll be able to use the graphics menu to see if you have the bug as it'll say you have something idiotic like 8TB of vram:

edit: Corrected the link ;P

Thanks for replies guys. Running at 1920 x 1200, Very high on pretty much everything bar the advanced options. AA is set to off currently and V-Sync on.

With these exact settings (in fact even higher on some!) on the standard 15.5/6 drivers then it worked fine (over 60fps constatnly) but I thought I'd try the new Win 10 drivers that everyones raving about!

It's literally like it's streaming the world in as I'm on that bit if that makes sense? It stutters and chugs horribly!

Try installing this Windows 10 driver.. So far this is the best one.

I changed drivers last night (Win 8.1 from 15.5 to a modded one) and GTA V became REALLY slow and choppy. Took me a couple of restarts and checking settings to notice that VSync had somehow enabled itself in the game. Changed that to a "no" and I'm back to a nice, smooth 55-65FPS in normal gameplay (which I'm quite happy about given the resolution and settings I run at). Might be worth just double checking that VSync hasn't enabled itself in the in-game settings.

I'll try that later, see what happens

I always have V-Sync on as I always get worse performance with it off in GTA for some reason?

I might try and post a video later actually as it's a really odd effect that I've never seen in a game before!
