Odd problem with new monitor

Hey guys

I recently bought a new OcUK E2250SWDA 22" Widescreen LED Monitor but I have an odd problem when playing games on it. The picture is fine when web browsing and watching media but when I play games on it (WoW, Diablo 3 and Galactic Civilization 2 so far) there is a constant very faint vertical scrolling effect of horizontal lines of differing brightness/contrast.

The monitor has been set up correctly and I have tried the graphics card (a new Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card) on another monitor and didn't have the same problem.

It's only fairly faint but I notice it a lot and it shouldn't be happening. The monitor is currently connected to the graphics card with a VGA cable going in to the back of the monitor and the other end in to a DVI adapter in to the graphics card. I've used the adapter before with no problems and I've tried a different VGA cable but it had no effect. I haven't been able to try with a DVI cable as I don't have one at the moment.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Try the DVI connector. Could be interference affecting the VGA signal or a fault in the hardware. Any power cables or power adaptors in close proximity to the VGA cable?

There's an extension lead next to the PC case and it has the TV, monitor and PC plugged in to it so there's a few cables next to the monitor. Would an easy way to check be to lift the VGA cable in the air away from everything or would the interference still affect it?

It's just odd that it only occurs while in a game and not with anything else.

EDIT: Just tried moving cable away from everything else but no change.
