Hey, slightly odd question, but it's a quickie...

Basically I wanted to purchase a specific mini-pci wifi card, a broadcom 1390 so I got it from ebay, but it turned up today and it says Intel WiFi 5000 with a product code 512_hmw or something...

Am I right in thinking they are not the same thing?

Googled it, but it didn't come up with much...

hi there, well if it fits the slot, and the drivers will install fine, there shouldnt be a problem, the wireless card is located under the CPU door on most dell's, assuming thats what pc you have, make sure you connect the 1 and the 2 antennas correctly.

at the end of the day, the port it goes into is classed as a PCI slot, rather than a specific wireless slot, so should be fine.

I dont think they are directly the same thing though. The Intel seems to be a better card mind.

Thanks for the reply!

Maybe I didn't make the post clear enough...i specifically need the 1390 broadcom card otherwise I can't use a certain OS(not compatible)...I know how to install it etc :)
