I seem to be having an odd issue on our mk4 golf. I've only noticed it over the last week and put it down to ice and the car not getting grip but it handles fine and the dash light doesn't come on.
The issue is that no matter what gear of speed, if I go to accelerate the rev counter goes up but I don't gain any speed. I may as well have my foot on the clutch. It doesn't happen every time, just now and again and I don't seem to be having any issues with the clutch when moving slowly in traffic or crawling up inclines.
Any ideas what it could be?
