Odd SLI issues.

I'm really hoping they are SLI issues and not a faulty second GPU :(

I've tried a few things out now, most seem to work properly. 3Dmark 11 works fine as does Heaven 3.0 though admittedly I can't overclock at all using the latter..

However when I run Fallout 3 the screen flashes like a strobe light and the only way to stop it is to run it on one GPU. This would appear to be a faulty SLI bridge but Far Cry 3 and Skyrim* seem to work perfectly under SLI.

* Earlier on I was playing and the screen turned off then came back on again. This was during an hour's worth of play and it hasn't done it again.

Has any one else had issues with Fallout 3?

I can't speak for the flicker in Fallout 3 but I get the occasional left screen lose signal (around 4 seconds) and I put this down to the lead.

I use an extension DL-DVI cable (5M) because the supplied lead was a little short and I get the screen blank probably once a week for no reason. The other 2 screens never do it.

I've had a faulty bridge before tbh. They really are made like poo. I've ordered a replacement EVGA one for £3, should do the trick with the flickering (I hope).

I've also emailed MSI for a replacement, will see what happens..

Just about to try out NFS : The Runs and that taxes the crap out of a GPU (same engine as BF3) so will be able to get a good idea then.

It might just be late drivers breaking Fallout 3 tbh. I know it doesn't work in SLI (it just pretends lol) but Skyrim was lovely.

NFS Most Wanted is the worst one, it runs like crap!

Frostbite II will eat as many GPUs as you can throw at it, same as FB1. BF Bad Company 2 (god I love that game !) was the only game that worked with Quadfire and Quad SLI.

If you're having issues in MW then try the following. This worked with Burnout Paradise.

Go to the Nvidia control panel and set the power to "Prefer maximum performance". I had issues with it in quad SLI and that fixed it. Basically when a new level loaded or you restarted a level or what not it went into power saving and dropped to one GPU.

That ought to work with Most Wanted given it uses the same engine and is coded by Criterion.

I just tried The Runs and it's fine so the only casualty so far is Fallout 3.

Probably half the folk that bought it. :p

Great game, shame about the bugs/stability.:(

Seriously though, hope you get it fixed.

I'll eventually get a hold of you sometime mate, Iv'e been pretty quiet in the forum of late too, I just can't get the time to do much at the minute.:(

Fixed. Did some research and it simply doesn't support multiple GPUs so I just went to the Nvidia control panel and set it to use GPU1.

It also seems that Far Cry 3 doesn't benefit from multiple GPUs either. Even with the "fix" it doesn't seem any faster..

Now Sleeping Dogs and Hitman? oh heck yes, they both scream along now.

No worries on getting a hold of me (fnarr lmao) as I'm always around now matey. Things have settled for the time being so just holler when you get the chance :)

Far Cry 3 works a treat with 2 GPU's for me.

Nvidia inspector is a gem of a program. Some games that will not run in SLI can be forced to (Like I had to with Far Cry 3 originaly).

It works but the FPS are no different than before. Well, at least they don't seem to be.

I've got a feeling that the Inspector fix (which is what I used) forces it onto one GPU tbh. I don't see it in the supported list at Nvidia's website so I will assume it doesn't use dual GPUs.

Agreed. I thought I would run with SLI enabled and disabled and compare. Improvement but not as much as should be.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
10956, 120000, 78, 118, 91.300

And with SLI enabled.
