Hmnn..

As above upgraded my P35 DS3P to latest F9 bios and I when I was setting up for the same 3.6Ghx overclock I had I happened to look at CPU-z which told me I had 3 cores running not 4????

Task Manager in Vista bears this out too..which is very odd.

Any ideas what could be going on here?
(Im using Vista 64)

Thanks in advance.

(Temps ok by the way...so im puzzled..)

even at stock im still showing 3 cores.

temps are fine 35 degrees - but only on 3 cores!

I'm wondering if even though ive flashed the bios I still need to reset the CMOS to get it reading the cpu properly.

Theres no chance I could have blown a core somehow is there?

I'd be surprised if you have 'blown' a core, but stranger things have happened!

I alwasy reset the CMOS after a reflash, so maybe try that next?

After that, I would try a repair install of your OS, as there could be a driver issue?

thanks!

cmos flash then repair install it is.

Write back after ive done it.

thanks all.

**edit**
Resetting the CMOS didi the trick - now back to 4 cores.

Lesson learned, every days a schoolday!

there's an option in the gigabyte BIOS which reports three CPU's to windows for use with windows NT and older, which won't run on more than 3 CPUs.
