Odd W8 problem

I'm having a bit of a repeating problem which has just started again tonight.
For whatever reason I can boot be working away no problem, then all of a sudden EVERYTHING freezes, but the HDD led on the case is lit up, like it running something like mad (ssd) then if I leave it for about 40mins doing this it'll suddenly come back, I cannot even get task manager to show when it does this to see what's causing it.
This is the third time it has happened
Anyone any ideas as apart from this its been perfect!

Event viewer should provide the necessary clues.

Not sure what much of that means but that AMD Sata thing show a hell of a lot.

You have a problem where the HDD appears to thrash, you have loads of amd_sata warnings in the event viewer and you don't see the link between the two and read them???

Yes, why is that such a bad thing? I don't know the ins and outs of the connection/ fault.
What IM asking is then what should I do about it?

Huh, so going into. The bios to see what was what turned out to be a bad idea, Win8 won't boot now.

Nevermind, theirs something to be said about W8's restore abilities lol
