This one has confused me slightly. I've recently updated my monitor (old one went kaput) to a 22" dell ultrasharp from a samsung 19". Now i didn't notice this last night cos i dont think it happened but when i maximise a window, be it a folder or browser window it only maximises to the previous monitor size 1440 x 900 instead of the now 1680 x 1050 screen size.

I've had a look in my desktop settings and my screen size is ok. I can manually stretch Firefox to the full size but with opera i cant extend it more than the 1440 x 900. Any ideas?

I had a look at that earlier but its set to the 1680 x 1050 as well. The screen is the correct size its just when i hit mazimise on the window that it doesn't go 'fullscreen'

I've ran ccleaner and now have the nview options on each window / browser i open. but whenever i click maximise i still have the 1440 x 900 with bands at the right and bottom of the screen.

I have tried all the options with the scaling but still nothing makes the maximised screen 1680 x 1050.

I'm now wondering if there is a driver from my previous screen interfering with the dell drivers? even though the previous screen isn't working and has been replaced with the dell screen and drivers installed.

I did wonder about any sort of driver cleaner. can you name any trustworthy program that you've used?

Extreme case would be to completely reinstall windows i guess!

The plot thickens!

I used driver sweeper and removed all drivers (great move eh!) Restarted windows into crappy screen mode.....went into desktop properties and popped it back to 1680 x 1050. opened up firefox and it went full screen...great i thought, then i scrolled the forum page here ....jerk jerk jerk.....of course I need the nividia drivers for smooth scrolling.....installed them, restarted the pc opened up firefox and low and behold......1440 x 900 mm sized windows again!

The Nividia 9800GT driver that I've got is version 6.14.11.7531. dunno if that helps anyone solve this for me?

I'll give that a go tomorrow morning when i get up, and I think I'll run ccleaner at inbetween the uninstalling and reinstalling parts to make sure that everything is cleared that should be.

Hope it works cos its a pain having a window floating about and not being full screen. Dont mind the band at the right cos I'm altering some rainmeter stuff to have visible there anyway, its mainly the band at the bottom thats annoying me

I've just discovered what it was now.

It was rainmeter of all programs that affected the windows. I had written in rainmeter the dimensions of my desktop 0,0,1440,900 but with the new larger screen it needed to be adjusted up to 1680,1050 which i did tonight and with that now all windows when maximised are full screen :)
