Hello,
I reinstalled Windows 8.1 on my new Samsung Evo 500GB SSD yesterday. When installing I had to quickly attach my SATA DVD drive as I don't usually have it in. When I first tried to install on the main partition it gave me an error, I later figured it was as I had got to the 'No OS detected press any key or insert media' and DVD in had pressed a key and started from there. Turned out I needed to do it from the BIOS boot priority as it wasn't loading the UEFI driver.
Now its working fine, except I noticed I get the Windows loading symbol on the bios screen now so had a quick check and the first drive to boot is actually a Windows Boot Loader partition on the EVO with the main EVO drive being the second boot option. Tried switching them around and no OS found so have just switched them back for now. The drive is displaying correctly as C in My Computer but are there any performance issues this may cause? Have never experienced this in many years of OS installations so don't know if there are any negative side effects aside from the inconvenience of possibly a second longer boot?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers.
