Oddity with iPhone and Ford 6000CD

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this rather strange issue? I have a 2012 Ford Galaxy Zetec, with the bog standard Ford 6000CD audio system. To this, I connect an iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1) via the Aux socket, as there is no USB on this model.

When a call comes in on the phone, or I use (or rather, try to use) Siri (about the most useless and unreliable feature I have ever encountered on a phone), the music playing cuts out, and the bluetooth handsfree activates, as it should. However, when the call is finished, or Siri fails, as it usually does, the music does not come back on via the Aux input. I have tried switching the audio system on and off, and tried soft and hard resets on the phone, but the only thing that seems to 'reset' the audio is to switch off the car ignition, leave the vehicle, and lock it, so that the audio system completely shuts down, after which, the music will once again come through the Aux socket, when the system is activated. Also, the 'Voice' function of the car fails to operate when this happens, so it seems that the whole handsfree system is 'crashing (?)', or something.

Does anyone else have this issue, or know what might be causing it?

Further, does anyone know if the Ford 6000CD audio system can be completely powered off without exiting and locking the car?

Further still, I have heard that there was a software update to the Ford audio systems last time there was an Apple OS update (to iOS 5.x) - is one available for iOS6, and, if so, how can I get it, and apply it, bearing in mind no USB input?

Thanks for any help with this, which is driving me nuts! :(

Odd, mine works as it should, 2008 mondeo zetec. Is the unit staying in phone mode? Or does it go back to Aux mode once you finish the call? I have my phone connected, playing music, and if I use either the voice function in the car, or Siri, when I finish the call music comes back on, I have even been using maps and that has worked flawless too. To turn off the cd unit, you press the volume control. Then press again for it to come back on. Not 100% sure how you update the software, probably a Ford or independant specialist task.

Have you tried doin the same, but without the phone plugged into car, so having music playing, activate Siri, make a call, then once finished see if music continues.

You mean, just listen to a CD or the radio and try making a call? Umm... no, probably not, but will do.

I don't believe the unit is staying in phone mode, as it goes back to Aux on the display. At this point, though, the Voice function no longer works either.

Pressing the volume button only seems to put it in a standby mode, as the display is still on. The only solution to this seems to be a complete power down, which I can only seem to do by exiting and locking the car. Bit difficult when travelling around the M25!

Work mate had this , got fixed updating to IOS6 or failing that go to ford to update the radio's firmware this also fixes it :)

Thanks, I did wonder that. I already have iOS 6.1, and thinking about it, this may have started when I upgraded to iOS 6.0, as it didn't do it when I first got the car in August. Perhaps a trip to the Ford dealer might be required...

Tried that today. CD playing, call came in, music muted, handsfree worked as it should, music resumed when call ended. Seems the problem only occurs when the iPhone is connected to the Aux socket. I'll try to get it to the dealership this week, and see what they say.
