Odeon Limitless

Yeah, it can be done.

We paid £150 each for ours with an offer through my partners work. I can't remember exactly, but it can be done. Then after a year, if you decide to renew then you get 3D thrown in for free and I think the % off food goes up.

Ah ok, makes sense. I'm always on the look out and never seen any public offers that cheap.

You can still get them with Tesco clubcard vouchers. We've had cards for ages so we have the black ones (3D films included, 25% off food). Assume we could still use th Clubcard vouchers to extend that membership.
To be honest not looked in to it. Happy to pay £16.90 a month - guess if we could find a way to save a lot we would. But "open to the public" deals don't seem to be available.

What do I have to pay extra for?
3D screenings, 3D glasses, IMAX, ISENSE, The Gallery, D-Box, Premier seating and any premium screening or seat type.

Would really be nice to include 3D and IMAX. No Premier seating either!

Although for a 3D IMAX movie with Premier seating you're looking at nearly £17 a ticket anyway so I guess I can see why they wouldn't.

So i signed up to the limitless scheme a week ago and have already seen two films - London has fallen, and Zootropolis.

Whilst i actually enjoyed Zootropolis, it's not something i would have paid to go and see. So having the benefit of unlimited films does give you the chance of seeing films you wouldn't necessarily pay for.

At £17.99 a month, for 12 months is £215.88. A peak ticket at Odeon is £10.50, which equates to 21 films a year, or 1 film every 2.5 weeks. Which i think is more than do-able.

I had a survey from Odeon this morning asking for my opinions on the limitless service, and as part of it they mentioned that they were looking to expand the scheme in the following areas:
- Limitless + Guest, For an extra £15 a month, this scheme would allow you to bring any guest and get the same benefits.
- 3D and Premium seating, For an extra £5 a month, i can't remember if it mentioned IMAX or not.
- Limitless gift service, they weren't very clear on how this would work. So i'm not sure if the "gift limitless" could be used short-term - i.e. a month of unlimited films, rather than signing up for an entire year.

With the Cineworld you get 3D added after your first year. Premium seating hasn't been added, although I don't believe many/any Cineworld's have them yet?
IMAX addition for free would be unlikely. I can upgrade to IMAX for about £5 each time I want to use it which is acceptable in my eyes.
The "Plus guest" idea would be an excellent one. At the moment me and the wife both have Unlimited, but to be able to drop one of those and just have her as my guest each time would be perfect.
The reason why I doubt they will go through with that one.
Unlimited get 10% off food (25% after the first year) and also 25% off at restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Chiquito,Frankie & Benny - surprised Odeon haven't looked down those lines too.

Yep i indicated i would be very likely to use this scheme. Being in the same boat, my partner would have the card and i'd be the guest each time, it also means that if she wants to see a film with her friends, then she can invite one of those free.

I believe they do offer discounts on their own food, but don't think there's any external offers.

Odeon's food/drink is very over-priced anyway, so it's unlikely i'll take much advantage of the discount.

The +guest is a fantastic addition if they do go ahead with it. Take the other half and if it's a film they don't want to see you can take a friend/family instead.

I cannot believe people think the money off food and ridiculous pricing is a good deal.

It's like £6.50 for a slush puppy. £5 for a hot dog/nachos or some popcorn.

Popcorn is like less than 10p to make per portion too. It's a complete rip.

IMAX is extra as is 3D.

What I do is watch movies at home on my 50" plasma from 8 feet away. If something really good comes out I'll watch it at IMAX. Basically I've been to the cinema twice in about 5 years as it's a rip off.

Most excellent tale brethren

Not everyone has space for a 50" plasma and surround speakers, or is able to pump up the volume high enough because it would annoy the neighbors... but how much did that 50" tellybox cost and where can I buy popcorn for 10p a portion because I can't find ready to eat cinema sized portions for less than £1.50 at Tesco. I hope you didn't pay more than £50 for the TV because that's the total cost of all the raw materials that went in to building it.

A large soft drink at Cineworld (about 900ml) after discount comes in at £2.78 which is cheaper than most pubs/restaurants for the portion size and on par with fast food outlets. A large popcorn (250g) after discount comes in at £3.82. I quite like a drink while watching a film but never found the need to eat as important.

This month I've seen 5 films: 3 in 3D, 1 in IMAX and 2 drinks. Total cost: £27.46 or £5.49 per film. If I had paid full price (tickets and drink) this would have been £71.70 so yes, money off food and ridiculous pricing for an unlimited scheme is a good deal.

If you're a cinema goer it really is a no-brainer. Before Unlimited we were once a month people, since then it averages out to at least once a week.
As you said - 2 visits and you're in profit and if there isn't a "blockbuster" that month you can go see the films maybe you wouldn't have paid full rate to go see.

I can think of at least 1 movie a month from now to Christmas - Rogue One, X-men, Independence Day, Dr Strange, Warcraft, Star Trek, Suicide Squad. I consider these to be big screen movies, bigger than my 50" TV can do justice.

And then probably go see Assassin's Creed, Fantastic Beasts, Finding Dory, Now You See Me 2, Jason Bourne.

Before I got my Cineworld Unlimited card I rarely went to the cinema. Now I go 2 -4 times a month, often to see a movie more than once in a slow month. It gets me out of the house for some 'me' time and I'm one of those weirdos who prefer going alone, bliss :)
