oem or retail I5

yes i bought one last year but had nothing but troble with it ..so had to send it back after just over 2 week oc refunded me...

Sorry to hear that, I guess overclocked systems aren't the best idea for inexperienced users even if someone else does the initial setup for you. The stuff you ordered this time though all sounds pretty good with the exception of the power supply. I hope you have better luck and try to enjoy learning how to put your machine together its supposed to be fun!

what power supply should i be going for ...i will change this one but dont know what to get ...John

For what you've listed I'd probably go for something like this:

www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-052-CS

Any PSU's by Corsair or Antec are safe bets you'd probably get away with a decent (at least bronze rated) 550w but a 650w gives you a bit more flexibility if you decided to start overclocking again or maybe upgraded your graphics card at some point future.

I would always go for something with a longer warranty...and here the cost diff in minimal....I came unstuck with a PowerColour Radeon becasue they only do 2 year warranty..so now my minimum is a 3 year warranty on all bits....

OEM was quite a bit cheaper when I bought mine (about £20). Not bothered about lack of stock cooler as I have a D14 and don't really need a 3 year warranty on a CPU. Bit miffed I don't have a little sticker for the front of my case though :p

Hogwash. If it was done right then it would be no different than a normal PC, the user would use it as they normally do without any interaction with the BIOS etc.. that would be more or less the same when using a stock rig. I have literally hundreds of rigs out there over the yrs that were overclocked and sold as such, have had maybe 10 in all that had overclock related issues, mostly due to user tinkering.
