:( bleh

So you have put a after market board into a shop bought system ?

The board which came with the system will hold SLIC info in the BIOS. This matches a CERT and OEM key which are on the recover disc or partition.

The new board you have bought will not hold the SLIC info in the BIOS so the copy of Windows you have will fail the validation and activation.

You did not mention which OS you have.

XP is SLP1.0
Vista is SLIC
Win 7 is SLIC2.1

Win 8 is totally different all together.

There are work arounds. Which I guess I am not allowed to talk about on these forums.

You will have to buy a retail copy of Windows. I am guessing your are talking Windows 7.

If your retail board was to hold SLIC2.1 then it becomes a matter of making your own OEM disc. If you knew how.

But we cant go into too much detail on here.

Not too much really.
