Off line maps app...

Heading off to South of France in a couple of weeks and I am looking for an app that lets you download maps for off line use. I don't fancy getting lost and having to pay silly prices for data roaming.

Any suggestions would appreciated.

Are you jailbroken? If memory serves there was a way to download Google Maps offline and dump on an iPhone.

Na - not jailbroken. Found an app called omaps, anybody used it? Looks like it uses openmaps, they scare me.

Try directU Europe maps. Free download 1.2gigs approx.
Street level mapping with topo as you zoom out.
Appears to use Openstreetmap, it's free so no grumbles.
Think they do a USA map set on a separate App.

All of it works off line.

Edit - works without need for a jailbreak.

It's on AppStore and I got it yesterday
Very good offline maps
The skobler satnav is also very very good too

I got oMaps in the end, was a life saver round the maze of streets in rural france
