Off site backup solution for my iMac - Any suggestions?

Had all kinds of problems with Crashplan, including problems restoring. Use Backblaze now and have done for ages, it works pretty well - I mostly just forget about it.

You can't specifically select files to backup though, you select drives and types. That's a bit restricting, although not massively so. I just have one drive that I dump all the stuff I want cloud backups of.

Currently trying Crashplan headless off my Synology NAS. I've got it working, no idea about speeds yet though.

My iMac, MacBook Pro and Windows PC all backup to my NAS, all my pics and music are in OneDrive/iCloud, so I think I'm covered. :)

For anyone interested, I managed to make my CrashPlan full speed by disabling deduplication as shown here: http://www.drobospace.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=142500.

I know for a fact I don't have much duplicate data, and I only really add to my NAS rather than stuff updating, so no worries there.

Definitely worth it for the initial backup, then I'll turn it back on. My 3TB backup is going nice & quick now :D

I also reduced the backup frequency as recommended by CrashPlan so that it can run through every file rather than going back and updating files that I've changed. Again, useful for the initial backup, then I'll increase the frequency again.

Hi guys, I'm interested in Backblaze but how does it handle restoring from a local backup?

What I mean is if my computer died or I switched the hard drive, if I copied over the files from my local back up (external hard drive) to the machine would Backblaze recognise these are the same files and not back them up again?
