Hi all,

Just as a preface, it's probably been around 20 years and 2 kids since I've done any sort of pc build, so I am well and truly out of the game. Have recently started to see some light at the end of the tunnel and begun to have a bit of free time on my hands, so thought I'd like to get back in to gaming. Problem is, no clue where to start, relatively meagre budget ~£1000 and I'd like something VR cable as I've got an Oculus Quest.

I've found an off the shelf system with the following spec for £920:
  • 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 9700
  • Windows 10 Home 64bit Multi-Language
  • 16GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2666MHz; up to 64GB
  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 6GB GDDR6
  • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)
Can I do better with anything prebuilt by OCUK? Would really appreciate some advice if anyone has the time.

Cheers!

You will be able to do a lot better, and I am sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon.

Are you not willing to build yourself? Would enable you to get much more for your money

That's very likely overpriced for rather low end graphics card, bad upgradability and no doubt lots of cheap parts.
Starting from really sluggish memory.

Next-gen consoles will bring some pretty hefty hardware into mainstream, so better have good upgradability.
Like basically underclocked for energy efficiency variant of Ryzen 3700X as CPU with 8 cores/16 threads.
Not sure how much OcUK takes from assembly work, but doing it yourself would certainly help to get hardware better able to answer demands of coming games.
