You won't be using one outside in Dubai thats a fact. The screen is awful in the sun.
I'd have thought you could get one there. Try getting it out there because you might see some Nintendo DS Lites and they are awesome. Plus, you could sell it at a profit when you get home.

Technically, if it's >£50 then you have to declare it at customs and pay VAT on it. I doubt you'd make much profit if you actually did this.

You won't find it much cheaper out there, if at all, lectronics are quite expensive there.

There is a general misconception that Dubai is cheap for shopping, which it isn't unless you are into jewelery (sp). There are times of the year when there are deals about, like the shopping festival in March, but generally for electronics don't get your hopes up.

Fingers crossed you can come back and prove me wrong and have got a bargain ;)

That figure is for postage. If you're bringing it back on your person, the limit is higher (£145 from outside the EU).

Actually, it's £18 for posted items. I didn't know the limit had been increased to £145, but remember that's for all the things you buy, not per item.

And only if you declare it, I would purchase it and keep it on my pocket, then claim I took it over there.
Actually, the onus is on you to PROVE that you bought it in the UK (hope you kept that receipt).

I know several people who got caught coming back from Asia with Silk Shirts, etc. The penalty payments were quite eyewatering.

IMO Customs @ heathrow (if thats where you land) is a breeze, I woundnt have any quarms about leaving it in my suitcase all boxed up and walk straight through without batting an eyelid, its a PSP its not not like you will be bringing home 40 of them to flog on the bay
