Offered £190 for GTX480?

You cannot really replace GTX480 performance for £190. A 560TI and 6950 will be slower for the same money.

Push them for more money or a GTX580 as direct replacement. Settle for a GTX570 or 6970 as a bare minimun. If they still refuse, contact your credit card provider (assuming you used a credit card - always use a credit card), and leave them to sort it out. I find retailers always back down when the credit card company calls them.

What exactly have they said to you? Have they said they are going to send you a 560ti?

Because I can tell you now it doesn't make much sense. They certainly don't pay out £190 for a 560ti, and usually the cash offer is the skank option.

And what exactly would one say to the CC company? I bought a product a year ago on CC, it's failed, its on warranty, I am not happy with warranty service?

You say that the retailer you purchased the item from is not respecting your rights for refund or replacement of goods to an equal standard as those purchased. The warranty does not change whether the card is 1 hour, 1 month or 2 years old, just so long as the warranty is still valid.

If CC company is not an option, you can try the small claims process. It is easy to do once you read up.

They don't have to offer you a replacement or repair if:

• it’s too costly for them
• it will take too long
• it will cause you significant inconvenience

If this happens, they should either:

• offer you a partial refund if you return the item (to allow for the use you’ve had from it)
• let you keep the item and give you a reduction in price for the fault

In principal they're within their legal rights to offer you a partial refund based on how long you've had the card.
