Office 2007 File Locking

has anyone come across a problem with Office 2007 apps where the usual file locking message "file is in use by .. notify/read only" etc message does not report the username that is locking the file? it just states "another user".

on the rare occasion the username is reported it is incorrect?

i cant find zip all info on this bug/"feature"..

help!

oh we have a lot of files in the older doc/xls format on the network still in active circulation if that makes a difference..

following some more testing its not all older format files.. doc's seem fine just SOME xls files that dont display the locking username.
