Im having all sorts of problems with Microsoft Office.

- I opened a file in Microsoft Office excel which was protected (password) on PC B however due to the file being started with excel 2003 I ran into problems.
I decided to remove the password from the file as that seemed to open the file correctly on PC A, now my problem really starts!! It seems even with the unprotected file I need a password !?!? on PC B . I figured this would be some sort of cache so decided to uninstall office on PC B and reinstall... to my horror this didnt sort the problem.

My question : Is there a cache file that can be removed or could I just rename the file (the unprotected one) and open it on PC B that way? Or wouldnt that work ? My thinking is it would only cache the file name ?

Many thanks for the help and sorry if this dont make much sense its late and im tired :( 13hr days for the LOSE!

What happens if you convert the file type from .xls to .zip and try to extract it? I know this works for Office 2007 documents. There is some xml folder in there somewhere that IE7 can open Word files with.

Tried that, exactly the same outcome. I must admit I was suprised when I un installed office and rebooted to reinstall only to find outlook was still set up and excel had obviously cache'd the file b4 I removed the password
