Hi,

Is SharePoint 2007 in Office basicaly the new Frontpage?

Just wondering what happened to Frontpage and if this is the new way to make websites in Mircosoft Office 2007.

Thanks

Expression Web is a good product although I have been a fan of FrontPage since I first started using it at version FrontPage 97!
All of my sites are currently created from FrontPage 2003 and all of them are fully HTML compliant.

Expression Web is available as an Upgrade from FrontPage 2003 - it will cost you around £80 to make the upgrade, but is worth it.
You can immediately jump into Expression Web and it looks and feels familiar, however it is a lot more powerful and to get the most from it you'll probably want to pick up at least one book.

FrontPage has never really been part of the Office Suite.
I bought Office 2000 Premium many years ago and that did include FrontPage but I don't remember FrontPage 2003 being part of any of the 2003 suites so no real wonder that Expression Web isn't in any of the Office 2007 suites.
That and the fact Expression Web was finished after the release of Office 2007.

Ok that explains it then.

Sharepoint seems to have web expression built into it from what i can see opening up both programs, but i might be wrong as i only got them today so haven't had a chance to play.

Sharepoint is the server side of things with Expression Web being the web page design software.
Also note that Shrepoint comes in two flavours - the more or less free extremely cut-down version or the feature rich, everyone is raving about it, enterprise version which is anything but free.

I would doubt what you have is a free version of Expression Web - as that is an £80 upgrade, £120 - £130 full price product, so unlikely to be given away with anything.
