Office 2007

I have office 2007 and I went to change some the settings life turning on drag and drop and spell check. But when I close word it reverts to its original settings. Does any one know how to solve this.

Which program(s) are you trying to change settings on? There are a lot of individual programs in Office 2007.

Try and post some screen prints/be more clear of what you are trying to achieve.

open the normal.dotx (or normal.dotm, whichever is default) template for editing (not just double-clicking on it). Make your changes and save it, then close Word. See if that does it - certainly when making changes to the layout of Word documents, it won't save that unless you specifically do so to the default template, so you never know.
Located in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates in Vista/7.
