I recently bought a brand new copy of Office 2010 Home & Student edition, installed it, and found it had also installed Outlook and Publisher, which arent supposed to come with this edition of Office. Have i fluked out and got a CD key for a better version in my box or is this normal ?

Definitely lucky :)

Somewhat ironically if you're a student, the pro version is the cheapest way to get outlook (and everything else). In fact if you don't need outlook then there's not reason to buy office with Libre Office and Office 2013 (free for at least another 6 months)... Really should try it too - it's different.

For anyone who wants Office 2010 but doesn't have an ac.uk email address to get a student discount then Office University 2010 can be had online for £60 for 2 PCs and contains the full suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Publisher, Access and Outlook (and the other junk like OneNote).

Just remember office 2013 is in the works. Actually you can download and try it now it seems pretty good but for me I don't want a buggy Office when working with Uni Assignments so I'm sticking with Office 2010.
