Based on customer feedback we have changed the Office 2013 retail license agreement to allow customers to transfer the software from one computer to another. This means customers can transfer Office 2013 to a different computer if their device fails or they get a new one. Previously, customers could only transfer their Office 2013 software to a new device if their PC failed under warranty.

Revised rules:

i haven't followed tech news for quite some time and had no idea they even did this. how could they call it retail with those sort of restrictions? muppets. :p

It's good that they've changed it, but in all honesty, it was probably never going to stop anyone doing it in the first place.

You've gotta be kidding me, my workplace took out a Microsoft Volume License agreement because of this. We ordered a boatload of Office 2013 Standard last week, as we needed them transferable. Wish we waited and got Home + Business now !

Office 2013 doesn't seem to run on Vista, which is pretty annoying. Also, the 2 computer / 1 user licence only covers 1 desktop and 1 laptop, not 2 desktops.

Oh yes. I remember now. I was confused because I got Office 2013 as a free upgrade from Office 2010, which lets you use it on two machines.

I'm not sure whether, after upgrading, the licence allows users to upgrade to Office 2013 on one machine and keep Office 2010 on the other, or have Office 2013 on both, or requires uninstallation of one to remain compliant.
