Office 365 - Constant Not Respondings (Windows/Mac)

I have been using Office 365 for a few years and I seem to be having more and more issues, most often with Excel, with Not Responding for no apparent reason. It seems to happen on both my Windows PC and various Mac's I use it on. The spreadsheet is not complex (personal finances) and has 12 tabs (1 for each month) but it seems to be in a constant flux of freezing or crashing on all platforms.

Anyone else using it, anyone else having similar issues, anyone else want to take a mallet to the head of Bill Gates?
 
Antivirus? That's normally the main reason. Disconnect from online and then disable the AV and re-test would be the first steps to check. Assume you've checked for both Windows and O365 updates as well?

The other thing I've found - especially with the Mac versions of office - is they've very chatty with the '365 service. If your Internet is busy it can have that effect. I notice when I'm tethering to my phone for example. It's irritating as hell.
