Hi all, quick question, on the Office 365 features list it says you need the £9.80 a month per user package to get AD integration which is quite a bit more than the £3.30 base package.

Is the AD integration needed to use the Windows Server 2012 Essentials Office 365 Integration Module? (it synchronises local account password with Office 365 password). Or is that standard and AD integration adds more?

£6.50 a month per user is quite a premium for us to pay just to get local/365 passwords to match (we already have Office 2013 licences).

if im not mistaken, then you go up to the Premium version to get AD integration you also get Exchange, Lync and Sharepoint which would explain the cost.

sorry for the double post but i should have added that they are due to revamp and reduce the cost of the O365 stuff later this year so don't resign until that happens

pretty much yes. but you can also link to other Azure services and use SSO etc.

they current bundles are to expensive I believe. Especially like you say, the AD integration price jump is too much. I would bet heavily that the revamp due in Q4 will bmake the component parts more modular rather than a larger bundle.

Thank, looks like we will have to go for that despite the price however as were moving from Exchange 2003 which is currently unsupported so a massive risk we're told.

I am a big fan of Exchange 2013 but migrating from 2003 aint quick and it aint easy. I would imagine going from 2003 to the could would be even more complex.

As far as I was aware you can integrate any of the Office 365 plans as well as the standalone Exchange plan with essentials 2012 R2.

The new Office 365 plans will all include AD sync anyway. (Small Business Premium & Midsize Business are being merged into Business Premium)

Do you actually need sharepoint, lync etc? If not just get Exchange Online Plan1.
