Hey,

I don't recall Office 2011 ever being very fast to open, or if it's actually go worse recently, but it's very frustrating.

Everything on my macbook pro is quite quick, much in line with how I feel the system should operate. All except office. I've just opened Word, and from the icon bouncing to it showing the splash screen, to being ready to type, took 27 seconds. Even Creative Suite apps open faster.

Contrast this to one of the Windows laptops we have at work, and even on a budget machine Word et al open instantly.

I'm using a week old install of Mavericks, as installed by the Apple store, with a time machine restore on it. I can recall Office being slow back to the original OS in 2011.

Is this something the issue with my install, or a known thing with Office? Having googled I see lots of really long waits, but not really any references to my 30sec wait.

Thanks,
James

I've always found Office for Mac frustratingly poor.
Excel is reasonably slow to open, but in-application performance is terrible compared to the Windows counterpart.

So much so, in fact, that I use Excel within my Windows 7 VM for anything particularly large, where the experience is considerably better.

I don't suffer any issues with any other application, just Office for Mac.

Much the same as my own issue then. I'll be able to reinstall it this afternoon, so will follow the MS instructions on a complete removal, then reinstall.
