We have 5 phones linked to two lines for incoming and outgoing calls

Randomly since Friday we have had an issue with the ringer volume on all the bases, the issue is that there is no sound at all on any of the phones which obviously isn't great for a business phone.

Anyone had this issue before?

Thanks

We have Avaya phones which sometimes do that, and require a full system reboot to get them to live again - the 'Mute' or 'Headset' button isn't pressed is it? Been caught out by that a few times :D

Mine did this randomly.3 times during a call the other day, the headset button just went off by itself.

******* hate these Avaya phones. Utter garbage. Horrible delay on them as well.

Volume buttons on the back/underneath the phone? Might've been turned down if the cleaner gave is a bit of a going over?

If your company scrimped on the Avaya phones then some are a bit annoying but none are utter garbage and I work for a company that supports about 10000 Avaya phones and the above issues are not ones I am familiar with.

Its quite an old system, certainly is not IP.

This is the phone

EDIT: Link updated

Yes very old, you need to get your PBX maintainer involved and start discussing an upgrade with them, because as odd as it may seem these things do have a finite life, but the maintainers job is to resolve issues like this.

We don't have a cleaner, we all keep the office tidy and I keep the workshop tidy, all the phones were working Friday but stopped yesterday, I were on site all day so didn't know about the issue until this morning

Apparently the guys who set up the system went bust years ago, I think the unit itself is called Goldstar, all enclosed units with no power source, not sure if this is even in service anymore

That thing must be ancient! Goldstar is the original name of LG (Lucky Goldstar) and they changed name in 1995!

Sounds to me like you need to look into replacing the system, which can be done pretty cheaply and easily if your system is as small as it sounds. Before we replaced it with an Avaya IP500 system, we previously used a 3CX software-based PBX. They do a free version if you want to try it out and it's pretty feature-rich for a freebie: http://www.3cx.com/
