Office XP professional

I use the Access componenet of Office XP pro on my desktop, but also want it on my laptop. I have installed it, but it wants to activate. Will I be able to do this without crippling it?

Licence covers you for 1 install only, unless its a Student edition where you can install to 3 systems.

Depending on how many activations it has had already it may well activate and work flawlessly, you will be however breaching your licence agreement.

does it not allow for 1 desktop, 1 laptop, as long as they aren't being used at the same time?

I've always been led to believe it does cover for installation on a desktop and laptop.

I'd check the microsoft office website to confirm, but I would think that it would still need activation. There is a section in the EULA covering how many machines the licence covers, failing that just ring them

Its a grey area, something often debated when looking at corporate disaster recovery.

In my eyes desktop and laptop constitutes simultaneous use.
