***Official 2010 F1 thread***

I was kinda hoping that he'd sign for Lotus - Lotus Cosworth with Senna... :D
It's sounding like it may well be Trulli and some far-eastern chap for them though. :(

Barrichello would have been a good choice too.

yea because his name is "senna" he must be epic

My thoughts exactly.

We've had Nico Rosberg, Nelson Piquet and now Bruno Senna. The name means very little when it comes to driving ability. The name only comes into play when dealing with advertising and sponsorship, neither of which make any difference to me.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

i can see why a new small team would want him though but even if he is good he will be in an absolute pile of crap that will be slow as hell and horrible to drive, it wont make him look good no matter how fast he really could be so its unlikely he will ever get another chance.

gone are the days when you could be in a fairly bad car but look like you have mad skills

he might be in a slow car.. but you can still show your mad skills.

look at Hamilton and Alonso this year both in shocking cars at the start of the season, both completely wiping the floor with there team mates.

Because for every Nelson Piquet Jr or Michael Andretti, there's a Jacques Villeneuve or Damon Hill.

Yes, the name doesn't automatically make you fast. Talent is what makes you fast. And if Bruno Senna has the talent to live up to the legacy of his uncle then we should see a top team come knocking on his door.

And in the current F1 market, I think any new team would prefer a 'famous' rubbish guy in their car who brings masses of sponsoship and media attention, thann someone half decent who wants a large wage but who nobody really knows.

Sennas image is more valuable to Campos than his skill, for the first year atleast. If he doesnt perform however, I can see him bein dropped once the team have bedded themselves in.

This is true. For sponsors, Bruno Senna would be great. But for the paying public who love to see exciting driving, Bruno Senna is nothing special.

Can I just ask sunama, who actually does impress you as a Formula 1 driver? If you were putting a team together and could have any two drivers, who would they be?

I realize this is somewhat off-topic, but I'm curious.

Ideally, Alonso and Hamilton. However, given that managing them would be a nightmare and they may end up taking eachother off, this would be risky. Don't forget that this pairing, in effect, won the constructors title in 2007 and finished joint 2nd (1 pt behind Kimi); so despite the squabbling, they still did a fantastic job.

More realistically, I would go for Alonso as No.1, with a good No.2 driver like Barrichello or Massa. Both drivers would have it written into their contracts, that preferential treatment will be given to the No.1 driver. If the No.2 driver is leading by a significant margin, by mid-season, then the No.1 driver will be made No.2, No.2 will be made No.1, for the remainder of the season and preferential treatment would be given to the new No.1 driver.

Next year's Ferrari pairing is VERY strong. I really hope McLaren do get Kimi, as they will need him, if they are to have any genuine chance of winning the constructors title. This assumes that Ferrari make a good car.

Oh dear... Campos may have a troublesome time next year if the comments Ecclestone made turn out to be true.

2 Brazilian drivers - Bruno Senna and Nelson Piquet Jr.

*sigh*

What comments?

Although looking at Grosean, I think theres something wrong with the number 2 Renault. It just spins all the time regardless of whos driving :D

If Piquet JR gets a drive in F1, then he should consider himself VERY lucky.

It's all down to pressure.

Race by race, the No.2 driver gets outperformed by a big margin by Alonso. The team begin to put pressure on the No.2 driver. The No.2 driver also puts pressure on himself. With every spin, the No.2 driver loses more confidence and it all ends in tears.

For some drivers, it may be best for them to goto a lesser team and toil away for a few years, learning the skills, before being promoted to a front running team, with a front running driver.

Hamilton is one of the few drivers in the last few years, who has been able to come in at a front running team, with a front running driver as his team-mate and do well. This is why I rate Hamilton so highly.

Some people will argue that Hamilton has had it easy as he has been in a McLaren which has made him look good, but I strongly disagree. Hamilton could very easily have gone the route of Grosjean and Piquet JR. He could've fallen apart in 2007, but he hasn't.

100 quid will be going on hamilton for 2010 drivers championship....is there anyway to find out what odds are at moment?

thanks
