RE: Tyres!

Thank god for that, I really hope we get a smaller name brand, or two big brands. Might mean we can move way from this daft two compounds rule.
Its an artificial way to get people talking about tyres when there is only 1 supplier. Good riddance :D

I thought the two compounds rule was already binned for next year, or not?

Would love to see Goodyear back in F1.
But Avon may be the better choice as they have a lot of single seater racing experience to fall back onto.

Nope.

Agree with Avon. Their factory is only down the road from here and they are struggling a bit so would be nice for them to get into something big like F1.

Hang on...
No testing between end of season and new year
New tyres to develop for 2011
Teams will be testing the new cars in the new year

When will the tyres be properly tested? Could be interesting.

What I don't get about Bernie is that in this period of cost cutting in F1 he still thinks it's acceptable to demand a 7% escalator each year.

you can only charge what people are willing to pay

Kristal champagne is just ordinary champagne, but with a 200% price increase (or whatever it works out at) just because of the name. But because its associated with louis vitton, people pay it. Yes its absurd to charge that much, but as long as people pay it, they will continue to charge it.

Same goes with F1, for as long as their are countires like the UAE, lining up with stacks of goverment cash to hold a race and throw as much money at bernie as he could want, he will continue to demand the increased payments.

I think if it was making money Bridgestone wouldn't be leaving?

True but being a smaller company, I think they would be more efficient than a large jap company though.

Would be good to see Goodyear back as well.. both would be amazing.

The guys fearless and clearly has a competitive level of that or greater than his well establish team mate in these past two races.

There's no greater proof than scoring points in your second race, I'd like to see him driving next year... for sure

Not sure if its been asked/discussed earlier but has anyone given details of any changes in qually for next year.

If the cars can't refuel then surely it kinda makes qually 3 just the same as qually 2 & 1 - e.g. a way to whittle down and shape the grid. Surely all the cars are going to be running on min fuel through each session? So maybe there will be 3 equal length sessions?

Does that mean from park ferme (sp) to the grid they will then just fully fuel them ready to race?

The rumours on toyota going are still there. Koba may have to look elsewhere.

Brawn should sign him, stick two more fingers up at Honda. Winning and with a japanese driver ;)

More efficient than a japanese company? I highly doubt that :p

I think it would only make sense if there were more than one company... then you can prove you are better than the other companies and thats where your Return on Investment would come about. Obviously if your rubbish, you're paying to promote the fact you are rubbish.

Brush up on your German skills, as Auto Motor und Sport suggest Red Bull will be continuing with Renault next season: http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/...red-bull-verlaengert-mit-renault-1449523.html

Key factor being the Renault's fuel consumption.

Good news if that is true imo

I didnt think Mercedes fuel consumption was that bad, hadnt noticed Renault / RBR being a lot lighter this year in comparison to how long the stint was (if its just in comparison to Cosworth then I can understand the distinction a lot easier)

The ban on refuelling during Grands Prix next year will mean a return to low-fuel running in the top-ten shootout for pole position during qualifying. The move is one of a number of changes confirmed by the FIA in the newly-published 2010 regulations.

With up to 13 teams expected to feature on the grid next season, the first Q1 phase of qualifying will see eight (rather than the current five) drivers eliminated after 20 minutes, with another eight ruled out at the end of the 15-minute Q2 phase, leaving ten to participate in Q3.

Minimum car weight has been raised by 15kg to 620kg, to give teams running KERS more flexibility in terms of weight distribution and set-up, and tyre warmers will still be legal, despite previous talk of the heated blankets being banned.

I guess that makes it clear he will not drive a McLaren next year.

Or he could just accept that he is not as good a driver as LH lol :D

Even when they've had the same upgrades, parts etc etc he's generally finished way down the pack! He has LESS than half the points of his team mate, that's pretty bad!

With all the other manufacturers having to re-equalise their engines to match the cosworth supplied 'standard' unit - when will this re-equalisation take place?

I'd have to imagine it being somewhat disruptive to have to recalibrate the engines, so maybe cosworth powered cars will have an initial advantage, even if its not due to them being 'better' engines than the current offerings.
