I find that aspect frustrating. You see a driver doing well/driving fast, and then the temperature drops or increases slightly, or the car doesn't like a certain type of tyre that weekend and they fall off a cliff in terms of speed.

The cars seem massively sensitive to each track too. For example the Red Bull and Racing Bulls were nowhere this weekend, but all of a sudden the Alpine and Haas cars looked good. That might totally reverse next race.

I suppose in a way, less consistency is better in terms of not knowing what may happen, but on the flip side it makes it slightly irritating to watch, as it becomes less about driver skill and more about how temperamental and random the cars are.

This era does seem to be bad for it but if you look back, it's always been happening really. The cars are all on a knife edge of being last place vs competitive. Everything has to come together as one.
