6112 for physics score seems very low tbh, and that's what's dragging down your overall score. I see you're running at 3.7gb, you would see a good gain by overclocking that i5. What cooler you running as the 22nm Intels need chunky cooling?

Antec 620 giving me 23c minimum atm, everything at stock.

Surprised it's hardly moved from the phenom though. All the benchmarks I saw of the 2500k were miles ahead and this is supposed to be the same...

Do you think the problem lies with my mobo bios? Do I need to upgrade to latest version or adjust a setting like northbridge?

You need to overclock that i5 to 4.5ghz (multi to 45 volts to 1.25v), then you will see +2000 on the physics score, you should also overclock your 7970 a bit (1125/1575 +20%). You should be able to reach 10000 points reasonably easily.

P7807 with a single 7850, and P10384 with the 7850 and MVP turned on.

My poor little budget 7850 (with the aid of a a small overclock:)) seems to be beating a few 7900's.

Hi, I was just reading my new mobo manual and looking at the memory slots which were lined up in DIMM slot order 3-2-4-1. I had my RAM sticks in the first two so 3+2.(Older mobo they were ordered like this) I've changed the sticks out to fit in 1+2 obiously and updated my bios to F8, was at F5 and put the memory speed to 1600mhz and now getting this score

Pretty please it's increased. Does that seem normal for a stock i5?

That's much more better :)

Need a better GPU bruv!

I sure do, but will wait for the next best thing. Can't fit 2 cards in the case so exchanging for a GTX670 or GTX680 won't give me a good cost|performance ratio, ie not really worth the money spent for the performance increase.
Building some money up for the next best thing though.

Looks ok, now go into CCC and Max out the clocks and +20% power and retest.

Overclock that 7970 or i will overtake you with my old school GTS 580 ;)

HAHA thanks guys!

Might be a really dumb question but exactly how do I overclock a graphics card properly as I haven't really done it before. Will doing this create a vast amount more heat or shorten its life?

I have the Gigabyte 7970 OC edition which has the Windforce three fan cooler and the clocks are defaulted to 1000mhz and 1375mhz.
