Official 3Ghz AMD CPUs soon? hopefully better news for AM2

According to a report on Chinese-language website HKEPC, the 256 and 856 single-core chips will be clocked at 3GHz and contain 1MB of L2 cache. They have a power envelope of 95W, the site claims. The 290 and 890 are dual-core parts clocked to 2.8GHz both with two 1MB L2 caches for a total of 2MB per processor.

hopefully by the time AM2 comes out, AMD may be able to have higher clocks again.

looking better for AMD i would imagine

isnt the fx60 2.6ghz? 400mhz jump from their top end cpu will be a good jump, instead of the usual 200

single core goes to 3 gig, dual core looks like its 2.8

ah so its just the same old upgrade

they used to upgrade cpus at 33mhz a time, etc, wonder how long till they jump from 200 to 250/300mhz?

dont see any mention of the Opteron 1xx series though just the 2xx and 8xx.
