** Official 680 review thread **

The real test will be both 680 and 7970 head to head overclocked, no one is going to buy a GPU this expensive and not like a bit of overclocking lol, and we know how much of an impact overclocking has on the 7970, will the GTX 680 clock as good?

If it does I would be tempted to buy it over the 7970 if I didn't already have one :p

Assuming this comes in at < £400 then it's all about overclocking performance then. We know the 7970 overclocks well. If the GTX680 overclocks poorly and AMD respond by dropping their prices then it's a much tougher decision.

Yeah it's starting to look a bit like the 6970 - GTX 580, the Radeons having more ram and performing 5% less. AMD might have to drop prices to compete, hopefully anyway, crossfire 7970's would be nice :p

It will be interesting to see the reviews which use actual custom benchmark runs as opposed to the built in game benchmarks, and how the boost works during actual gameplay.

If the Turbo Boost thingy can boost minimums and reduce latency,it is going to make gameplay smoother.

Too early to tell yet from just 1 rushed review, going to keep my wallet closed till I see some more benchies. If I buy one looks like I'll need new a psu to power it, 600w wont be enough for this gutsy beast.

Really?! Got me worried now .. What about 650W?

So generally the GTX680 is roughly anything between 1-20% faster, with an average 12-15% faster than 7970 at 1920 res 4xAA, with the exception of AVP and Metro (Metro probably benefit from the wider memory bus and extra VRAM of 7970). But as people have said, need to see max overclock vs max overclock on air of the two cards to see the full picture...but to be honest even IF 7970 can clock a bit better, it still quite hard to close the gap between the two it would seem.

I suppose it all depends what you have in your case,I got 5 big fans, 2 x 650gb drives, a sabertooth board and Fx 6100 still looks a bit iffy to me.:-(

Well my specs are in my sig, may also order a H100 today aswel. 500r has 1 200mm fan, 2 120mm intake fans and 1 exhaust fan. It should all be safe?
