Ok not seen much love for these budget cards so I thought I'd start an owners thread.

This is with mine clocked @ 1200 core 1350 Ram, coming from a GTX 480 and having tried out a 7950 the price these 7770's are now makes them excellent value, it's not all about number of cores etc, these cards have some great innovation inside.

3D Mark 11

Heaven

And for anyone who is wondering these in Xfire beat a 480 GTX 580 GTX and a 7950 Radeon, the latter are still £300 plus!

Yea the 7950 overclocked is powerfull alright I could get 7500 3d mark 11 score but I just couldn't justify the price! At stock it got 6850 abouts so these 7770s for £100 less offer some real performance.

Yea if anyone has some 6850's in xfire would be interesting to see some results.

My little brothers *single* 6850 gets just under 1000 in Unigine @1050 settings. Makes me want to get another just to find out lol.

Great for benching, but I don't think I'd recommend a 1GB card to anyone actually interested in gaming.

I disagree, in BF3 all settings high and 4x MSAA I am getting a minimum of 55FPS I can run vsync and have a steady 60 and were talking 64 PLayer Caspian Boarder style. For reference my heavy clocked GTX 480 couldn't handle MSAA and give me decent frame rates, and the 7950 on ultra with 4x MSAA was also a stutter fest but same settings as these 7770's smooth as.

These might start to experience issues at above 1080p but for the budget people out there's not much to touch em.

That sounds really impressive, almost too good to be true lol. As you can see from my sig, I'm coming an overclocked 480 and like you the frames aren't too amazing when using the ultra preset.

I'm just struggling to believe your 1GB cards can do better where my 1.5GB card struggled somewhat. Especially after experiencing issues with both crossfire 5770's and crossfire 5850's (at 1080p).

If what you say is true however, a pair of 7770's are a freaking steal for the performance you're getting.

Tobsmonster2, I know believe me I was expecting near the performance of the GTX 480 with maybe some gains here and there and of course less power heat etc, and at first with the odd driver issue (AMD seem **** these days) I wasn't sure. Once I had that all sorted well what I report is true and as you can see my CPU is not high end (FX 6100) and the scores are good the performance is good.

I was surprised too , cos if they had not performed I'd have stuck with the 480 a little longer.

Just to clarify my BF3 settings are High not ultra with the 7770's but with High I can Run 4x MSAA, with Ultra I can run only Post AA but then the 480 could only do that with lower FPS. And on high 4x MSAA was not as good. Smooth as I like to call it!

Ah, that clears it up a bit. You could probably get away with running all settings on ultra, aside from textures. Dropping textures down to high shaves a chunk off BF3's memory usage; doing this was the only way I could get reasonable frame rates on all my 1GB cards.

Even with this however, I still had the major issue where if I had a single flash video open in Chrome (youtube or tvcatchup usually) while playing, my frames in BF3 would be cut in half (around 24 FPS), and I believe this is because that flash media was pushing mem usage right to it's limits. And of course, as soon as I minimized the game and closed those youtube video's, my frames would jump right back into the 50's and above.

Knowing this, I'd say 7770 crossfire is a good shout for anyone who wants high end performance, on a budget, and doesn't mind making a few 'sacrifices' here and there. Had they been selling 2GB versions at their current prices (or more realistcally, the 7770's original launch price), the 7770's could easily be the best bang for buck purchase.
