Hi All

Ordered this board today . . . very concerned about all the issues various peeps have been having ( not posting, overvolting, vdroop etc etc )

That will teach me to do more research next time.

BTW what is the difference between V2 (which I ordered) and the original board which is now apparently EOL.

Cheers

Hi and welcome , the board is fine relax and enjoy , V2 apparently has done away with a power plug or has an extra one , no significance so i believe

Only warning is that it does overvolt ram by about 0.05volt though

The Maximus Formula SE has been a fantastic board for me so far. Look at the amount of Bios updates already. The only negative part is the amount of BIOS options that are bamboozling to start with! It has some stupidly high voltage options which I love. 2v CPU, 3.2v ram, 2v NB, 1.8v FSBTV...off the top of my head. :D

Thanks mate !

Can the overvolting issue be fixed via a bios update ? I see they are coming through thick and fast at the minute . . .

Also, I read it is not advisable to use the ASUS provided windows update utility to flash the BIOS, how and what is the preferred method of updating the BIOS ( via USB pendrive ? )

Thanks you SO much guys !

Hi, use the flash tool from within the bios is best..

Can anybody confirm that they have a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler fitted the special edition of the board?

also can you confirm that you can attache a fan (or two!)

I am concerned that if i buy one it won't fit?

Fits fine mate - i use 1 fan but theres plenty of room for 2 if required

H, well I've decided to go the whole hog, ordered a new case, a Lian-Li A71A, pre-modded to take the rad under the roof. Also have a D-Tek Fuzion with the quad nozzle to go on the new nb/sb prepped motherboard. I now have a bunch of parts hanging around that can build me another PC and flog it off here...
