*****Official ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA thread*****

Anyone have any problems installing the supreme fx II? I've tried the 64bit drivers on Vista 64 and the 32bit drivers on windows xp and the same problem both times. "The audio driver files do not support you computer hardware". It's driving me up the wall.

Nope. :D

Although I've seen a hot fix or knowledge base article about that issue (not that I read it of course)

Naa, I didn't need it and forgot where I saw it now, can't be hard to track down can it, how about he Asus forums as mentioned above

Mine installed fine right off the disc using vista 64 bit ....

I am building a completely new system with this mobo tomorrow.
I guess everyone is using the 0308 bios?
Anyone using the 0401 or 0403 beta bios? If so, how does it look?

im useing the 0406 bios ;)

dont see a diffrence compaired to the 0403 bios though people have said vcore is more stable under 45nm cpus and higher fsb stability. ;)

Everything worked except the sound. Now I've given up on the supreme fx and installed a spare x-fi card, but with all the bios updates I used, the usb screen at the beginning doesn't load up devices at the bootup stage anymore. And there seems to be system pauses which means loading Vista x64 takes forever. I will try and troubleshoot this thing before it goes back. Still think it's the best x48 board out there, on paper ... ;)

0403 BIOS here, didn't even realise it was a Beta. :o

Banged it straight in during the original build so have no comparisons to previous BIOS.

Seemed to have my Xeon stable at 3.73Ghz, at only 1.288vcore, I wouldn't know if that's good or not but a few people seemed to think that's very good.

Hey, just got the board the other day.

Few concerns... Say I were to alter a voltage setting in the bios then save and exit, I'm finding that it will turn off then start again but will hang on cpu init or en setup. If I turn the pc off and leave it for say 2-5 mins then try to boot its all fine and it runs at the voltage I set earlier fine.

Same thing happens if I try to clear cmos, I have to wait 2-5 mins before being able to boot.

Anyone else getting this?

Spec - E6600, OCZ Reaper HPC 4096Mb (2x2048Mb) PC2-8500, 8800gtx, 2x750gb samsung F1 Raid0
Gah, does this board still do that "cold restart" where it powers down completely before coming back on? That plays havoc with my Vapochill

I didn't now there was 406 bios. i don't see it listed on the Asus website.
Where did you get it from?

Trust me with the smug attitude a few weeks back about the audio...

Turned the PC on tonight to no sound ??
WTF
Un installed and rebooted and let windows reistall the drivers... no different.
un installed and installed the "Sound max" package from Asus site... no different.

Control panel>sounds>Supported formats,
brings up a test area

DTS ... never worked before but does now (i.e I can hear sound playing when activated)
Amplifier confirms this as it has DTS SURROUND written on it, where usually it has just DOLBY DIGITAL.

Dolby Digital.. now doesn't work, used to though.

Microsoft WMA Pro audio... doesn't work, never did..

Sample rates,

44.1Khz... nothing
48.0Khz... nothing
192 khz.. causes it to spaz out. :/ (well, says that the device is in use by another program (err nothing else running)... yes to continue (it may stop working yada yada)
Then tells me windows was unable to play the test tone and that format will be disabled... but it doesn't.

Seriously confused here and not sure what to try next.

Haven't installed anything recently, haven't been messing with any configurations or anything.

Have you tried a bios upgrade?
Maybe you simply have a dodgy card. I have a Razer Barracuda AC-1 in mine and it runs flawlessly in Vista 64.

Got one of these last week and I have had no problems with it so far. Q9450, corsair Dominator 8500 4 gig, ATI 4870 on Vista 64, Bios 403. Have just got the auto clock to a Q9550 and manual change of mem to 1068 and 5-5-5-15but I am waiting till I get an artic cooler before going any further. CPU 23, NB 43, SB 40 all at idle.

Well I did have one problem.... Microphone would not work with SupremeFX2 so I put in my old Audigy2 ZS and still nothing, so i went into bios and changed high definition to AC97. All is well but I havent put the supremefx back in to try mic with AC97.

I thought I was pretty competant at overclocking but all the stuff you can change on this board is unreal :D I have a lot of reading to do.

This is my first ASUS board and my thinking so far is it wont be my last.

Ordered one of these puppies alongside a E8500 and some OCZ 2x2GB PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Platinum Series DDR2.

Can't wait :D as should be a nice upgrade over my Athlon X2 3800

Is the board quite easy to use when it comes to overclocking? WOuldn't mind getting my E8500 up to 4Ghz straight out of the box.

Well I've just installed a a fresh copy of vista on a new HDD and I still have no sound so I don't think it's a software issue. :(

Next step is to try a non beta BIOS I guess.

Oh dear, someone slap me with a wet fish!!

I woke up on the sofa this morning and happened to be staring at the AV amp (which is what the PC is connected to via SPDIF) and thought, hmmm it's still showing DTS... did I leave the PC on last night... nope.
So I jump up, get on the floor and look at the AMP screen and it's no longer on auto input selection but DTS instead.
Press one button.
Switch PC on
Sound working !!! LOL, WHAT AN ARSE

:o:o:o:o:o
