Struggling to find any one playing with this board at the moment,

has my Q6600 G0 running happy at 3Ghz with 4 dimms at 1066 but behond that is ify, 3.48Ghz nearly stable but higher and lower than that goes dodgy again

bios 0902:

the additional settings are a bit confusing:

spent ages tweaking today, absolutly ages!

i also have 1. got it yesturday. I havnt overclocked it yet but will start playing about with the settings once i get the hang of things. i got an e8400.

my e8400 voltage isnt displaying correctly in ANYTHING other than pc probe, which is identical to what i set in bios. neither cpuz or everest show any core v difference when changing from 1.25 to 1.40

Yeah All but PCProbe for me drop 0.1V roughly.
Also my temp reradings might be screwed, with 1.34V and 2/4 core orthos the two cores steady at 52C then if I orthos the other 2 cores it jumps to like 58C then after a few seconds goes up a degree then another then another......etc I get scared when it hits 84 and stop orthosing....wtf? gonna refit n lap the heqatsink later, but its weird how it gradually goes up like 30C over a few minutes

vcore at 1.30v, and a room temp of just 12/13 i get an idle temp of 43/43 (with my pc being on for about 5 mins)

im using the stock cooler at the mo

when the room temp is at 20c, coretemp gives me a reading of roughly 52/52, gets to 70c on load. which i dont believe as the exhaust fan doesnt chuck out hot air like my e6600 did when that was at 50/60

Hmmm yeah sounds like there might be something inherently dodgy there

i cant get the fsb in bios any higher than 1600. Something is holding me back. I upped the nb voltage aswel as the cpu v, (which werent needed as i was on a multi of x8), doesnt even pass post

i can only see nb temp in bios as its not showing in everyest or pcprobe, and thats showing as 70 odd.

right now with things stable, im at 3.6ghz with a vcore of 1.30 (0.02v idle droop, 0.04v load) with temps hitting 75 after just 3 minutes

iv seen reviews of people getting a better fsb, im doing something wrong aint i

Well im having a mare tring to get my Q6600 stable over 3ghz
after the 1334-1400 dead zone orthos kills it at 3.37 and 3.48 im just patiently waiting for some one with my chip to have a go!

yeah my nb is in the 70s

have you tryed upping the CPU and NB voltage ratio things at the bottom of the voltage page? adding 0.3-0.5mv helps my stabilty a lot

do these have the lcd post thing on the back like the 680s. if so lets wait for the cpu init problems.just going to get rid of mine and will not be looking at 780 strikers because i am sure this problem will be with them as well:)

It has a portable wired lcd, Im sure theyv ironed the fault out

Yeah i have, i leave it on default as i havnt noticed a difference.
I think im going to leave any more ocing for now, iv just orderd a watercooling system to use with my cpu.

also, i managed to decrease my nb temp by using one of these by 10c! now runs idle at 59 with a room temp of 18/19c

i added that, and the chipset optional fan facing the exhaust, havnt noticed any cpu temp rise from it, just the same old irritating 50c :(

Got one arriving tomorrow and once I have built my system will be using it for my first attempt at overclocking. Already read the pdf manual (excited 42 yr old kid me) and am looking forward to getting it all set up.

still no one else got one of these bad boys?

Yes, I have had 1 since last Tues.

I aint happy with it so far as of heat and my 3DMARK06 score going from 14500 down to 7000-13000 (random), games also stutter, COD4 slows to 20FPS where as I normally get 60-100FPS.

Funny thing is I got 15100 the 1st time I ran 3DMARK06 and that was at only 3.6GHZ (E8500) and GPU at 685/1185 instead of my old 14500 score at 3.8GHZ (E6850) and GPU at 700/2400 and that was in a hot room with no extra cooling (cant run 7000/2400 on the .28 betas as of that old Nvidia error is back where driver fails then recovers) fine on the Official .25's though.

I did manage 500FSB (2000mhz) with memory in sync at 1000mhz and passed Orthos but get errors in Windows with IE/Win Mail and apps closing.

I can boot to Windows at 525FSB (2100mhz) so far.

It may have been down to the heat issue.

I have to try something tomorrow (from Asus UK) to do with heat and bad contact with heatpipes (I did try fans on both Chipsets., bummer is Im back on Striker Extreme and E6850 now.

The Mobo has 3 temps, 1 is the same old sensor as always and normally is near CMOS Battery so basically its the case temp, it reads as 40C so either is in a place shielded from air or is reading wonky as this Striker Extreme reads 30C.

The other sensors are the NB and SB (MCP), the NB is over 55C at idle and the SB is 75c at idle and that not overclocked, I would say they are pretty accurate as I can hold my finger on the NB a good 5 seconds but cant hold it on the SB for even 1 second.

There is no software apps apart from Asus Probe II and possibly Nvidias new all in one app, that can read any Temps inc the CPU accurately yet, esp on a E8X00 CPU.

Asus still have not got the LCD right, as soon as you install the ACPI driver from CD or Win Update or even Asus Probe II (it inc's the same driver) you have that Blue Backlight on constantly and I keep getting dumb messages in the screen that make no sence going by the info in the manual.

Also takes ages to Post in Bios screen.

My games, 3DMARK and overall use of PC is now far higher/faster on old hardware once more (Striker Extreme + E6850).

3DMARK scores are all in Vista64 so probably a bit lower than XP.

I dont seem to have as many probs as you :) but yeah my temps are big time srewed (see pic)
my 3dmark did jump from 15332 to 15853 (with slower graphics clock than b4)

spot whats wrong here!!:

cool sounds good m8 , what chip you running? keep us informed

Ive just ordered 2x2gig of 1000mhz ram as my 4x1gig wont run stable at 3.48ghz(takin 2 chips out works fine)
did remove , lap and re-apply the heatsink today to see if helped my -1000C temps lol but nah , no luck :(

Out of interest, where did you point the spotcool? At the heatsink on the NB, or towards the fins at the end of the pipes? And which way is it pointing?
